Culinary Touch Salad Toppings Liven Up Salads with Nutrition

Nutty topping liven up salads with nutrition
Research by Fisher Nuts, a brand of Elgin, Ill.-based John B. Sanfilippo & Son Inc., shows that close to half of all consumers use nuts as an ingredient in cooking and more than half use them in baking. Offering a healthy, tasty and easy way to add nuts and even a little fruit when creating salads or snacks, Fisher introduces Culinary Touch Salad Toppings.

Available in three varieties — Cranberry Almond, Walnut Raisin and Slivered Almond — each bag lists a salad recipe on the back panel.

A study of U.S. adults, published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association, found those who eat salads regularly have higher serum levels of vitamins C and E, folic acid and carotenoids. These nutrients are well absorbed in the body from raw vegetables, so it’s no wonder that salads are no longer just a side dish.

"Research shows consumers want convenience, good nutrition and great taste," says Julie Nargang, director of corporate marketing for Fisher Nuts. "At the same time, they want something different. That's why Culinary Touch Salad Toppings are the perfect addition to any salad. With their blend of sweet, plump dried fruits and slow toasted nuts, they liven up salads while offering high nutritional value, great taste and the ease of prepared foods. They can also be sprinkled on top of ice cream and yogurts or simply enjoyed as a snack."

Suggested retail price for a five-ounce to six-ounce stand-up, resealable bag is $5.49.
