I'm heading to one of the most fun (and delicious) trade shows a girl covering the food industry can attend: The 2011 Sweets and Snack Expo in Chicago.
While I love this trade show (who wouldn't love coming home with a bag full of soon-to-be introduced sweets and snack?) what I'm most looking forward to this year is using the Sweets and Snacks Expo 2011 Mobile App.
I downloaded the App from http://www.sweetsandsnacks.com/app.cfm and have proceeded to plan my entire trade show visit using the tools contained within the app.
What I really like about this app is that it contains items that would typically get lost in my bag or that I wish I didn't need to dig into my bag for. Things like an interactive floorplan, exhibitor profiles, session times and topics and even a booth visit schedule.
I can apparently rate the sessions I attend all from my phone.
While I'm still planning my visit, I can already foresee my mobile app being one of my favorite things of the show.
I have yet to experience the full force of the app-meet-trade show floor extravaganza, but I am going to go out on a limb and declare that more food processing trade shows should consider adding mobile apps to their repitoire. Talk about earth-friendly and user-friendly.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to talk sweet nothings to my iPhone.
