New brewery to chill Coors' transport costs

09/24/2004

Coors Brewing Co., Golden, Colo., will spend an estimated $190 million to add brewing operations at its Elkton, Va., packaging and distribution facility.

The new brewery, expected to be online by early 2007, will have a capacity of 6-7 million barrels a year, roughly equaling the capacity of the facility's packaging operations. The motivation was to cut transportation costs.
