Tallow and soybeans team up to combat cholesterol
University of Nebraska-Lincoln nutrition scientist Tim Carr is working on a food additive that could combat cholesterol by combining two sources -- soybeans and beef tallow, according to an ABC News report.
Carr has developed a powdered food additive based on his research, which found that stearic acid, a saturated fat contained in beef tallow and some other fats, actually lowers cholesterol.
