NFPA updates name, leadership
12/28/2004
The National Food Processors Assn. has a new name and a new head. Cal Dooley, a member of Congress from California for the past 14 years, has been named president and CEO, replacing John Cady, who is retiring.Prior to announcing his retirement earlier this year from the U.S. House of Representatives, Dooley represented the 20th District of California and he served on the House Agriculture Committee He is a fourth-generation farmer and partner in Dooley Farms, growing cotton, alfalfa and walnuts at his farm in the San Joaquin Valley.
NFPA is changing its name to the Food Products Assn. “The name change reflects the continuing evolution of this association,” says Cady. “NFPA now offers representation to restaurants, retail grocers and suppliers to the industry. The term âprocessors’ no longer reflects our full membership [and] the association’s scope is more than national.” The association was founded in 1907 as the National Canners Assn.
