Honey Board sweetens deal for new product developers
10/04/2004
What ingredient supplier isn't gung-ho about what its products can do? But on October 20 and 21 in Kansas City, Mo., the National Honey Board (NHB) will put its money where its customers' mouths are. The NHB's New Product Showcase will introduce market-ready prototypes of a dozen new, honey-centered product concepts and extensions.NHB sources say the showcase "will present honey as an integral ingredient and purchase incentive" in innovative applications such as extruded corn chips, blendable beverage syrup, processed poultry coating (reduces the need for preservatives by 15 percent), enriched adult nutrition beverage, drinkable yogurt and honey balsamic vinegar (contains no sulfites). The event will also include technology lectures and demonstrations by two of the product development groups responsible for generating the concepts, as well as product testing and sampling.
The showcase will be open and complimentary to all food manufacturing and foodservice product decision-makers, and to members of the honey industry. For more information about the New Product Showcase or the National Honey Board’s food technology program, contact Bruce Wolk at (303) 776-2337 or by e-mail at brucew@nhb.org.
