Molson, Coors mush toward merger

Despite various parties’ efforts to undo the deal, Molson this week outlined a tentative timetable that calls for a December 27 closing on its proposed merger with Adolph Coors Co. Coors took the first step with the Sept. 17 filing of a preliminary proxy circular with the Securities and Exchange Commission in the U.S. If the document is cleared by the SEC and becomes final by mid-November, the proposal will be submitted to the Québec Superior Court for an interim ruling.Molson said it hopes to hold a shareholders meeting the week of December 13. If the shareholders approve, the final order from the Québec Superior Court should come the week of December 20.
