Disease management foods to soar

With more than half of the 78 million Baby Boomers turning 50 in the next 10 years, demand for prescription and over-the-counter remedies and foods and beverages with disease management benefits will increase substantially, according to Information Resources Inc.

The presence of chronic health conditions, including arthritis, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, is dramatically higher among Baby Boomers over age 50.
