Cinnabon Cookies Win Prestigious Award at FMI Show
05/13/2005
Poore Brothers, Inc., Goodyear, Ariz., announced May 12 that the Food Marketing Institute (FMI) recognized the winners of its 2005 Retailer Choice Awards during a special ceremony at the recent FMI Show in Chicago. Poore Brothers' recently launched Cinnabon cookies won the new product award in the Bakery category. The cookies come in three varieties: a Cinnamon Roll soft cookie, with rich cinnamon filling and cream cheese flavored frosting; a Cinnamon Sandwich cookie, filled with cream cheese flavored frosting; and a Cinnamon Swirl crisp cookie. All three items are made with Cinnabon's proprietary Makara cinnamon to provide a flavor experience consumers are accustomed to with the Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll.
New food, beverages, and consumer packaged goods were featured in the event's New Product Showcase. To qualify for the Showcase, products must have been launched in the past year and must be a completely new category or line extension. Retailer and wholesaler attendees at the FMI Show voted for their favorite products.
"This is very exciting news for our new product introduction of Cinnabon cookies," exclaimed Thomas W. Freeze, Poore Brothers' president and CEO. "The FMI show in Chicago is the largest food show of its kind in the country and is attended by major retailers and wholesalers from over 100 countries, and there are over 1000 large and small food company exhibitors. To be selected by our customers with so many other companies also showing new products is a tremendous honor. This prestigious award highlights our strategy to be an Intensely Different company producing Intensely Different food products," stated Mr. Freeze.
