Institute of Food Technologists Welcomes 2009-2010 President and President-Elect

Marianne Gillette, Vice President - Technical competencies and platforms for McCormick and Co. Inc., is the new president of the Institute of Food Technologists (http://www.ift.org). Gillette began as 70th president of IFT, September 1, 2009, and is the second president from McCormick and Co. after Dr. Richard Hall (IFT President 1971-1972).

In her new role as president, she will work with a range of volunteers from academia, industry and government to support IFT’s overall mission to advance the science of food and to ensure a safe and abundant food supply that contributes to healthier people everywhere.

Robert B. Gravani, PhD, Professor of Food Science, at Cornell University officially became president-elect September 1 as well. Dr. Gravani has been an active member of IFT for over 40 years participating in various roles including participation on the Board of Directors (formerly the Executive Committee), and he has served as a member of the Expert Panel on Food Safety and Nutrition, Food Microbiology, Extension and Quality Assurance Divisions, Certification Feasibility Advisory Panel and Produce Safety Expert Panel, Task Force on Consumer Outreach, and the Continuing Technical Education Committee.
