The American Meat Institute has decided to co-locate its AMI tradeshow with the Intl. Poultry Exposition/Intl. Feed Exposition at Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. The shows will be together annually in Januarys, starting in 2013.
The three shows will operate under one umbrella “creating one of the 50 largest shows in the U.S.,” said an announcement. It is expected the entire show will include more than 1,000 exhibitors and close to 1 million sq. ft. of exhibit space.
The meat and poultry exhibits will be combined on one large show floor, and the feed expo will be held in the adjacent hall. One badge will allow all attendees into all exhibits.
All three associations will continue to operate independently, but the operations of the show will be handled by U.S. Poultry offices in Atlanta.
“Now we have one show that provides more education, networking and hands-on demonstration of equipment and supplies from farm through distribution,” said AMI Pres. J. Patrick Boyle. “Our entire industry will benefit from the reduction in travel expenses [and] exhibit costs and see an undeniable increase in value.”
The first co-located show will be Jan. 28-31, 2013.
The AMI show has moved among a number of trade shows in recent years: Worldwide Food Expo (with the Intl. Dairy Foods Assn.) up till 2009; it soloed in Chicago last year; and will be in Dallas this year on May 1-3, co-located with shows of the Food Marketing Institute and the United Fresh produce show.
