Farley's & Sathers, Ferrara Pan Candy Companies to Merge

Farley's & Sathers Candy Co. and Ferrara Pan Candy Co. on May 23 agreed to merge into what will be called Ferrara Candy Co. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Ferrara Pan, Forest Park, Ill., still is owned by the founding Ferrara, Buffardi and Pagano families, with Salvatore Ferrara II the chairman and CEO. He will continue to “lead” the combined company, a news release said, although his title was not specified. The company’s products include Lemonheads, Red Hots, Black Forest, Atomic Fireballs and Boston Baked Beans, as well as private label products.

Farley's & Sathers, Round Lake, Minn., has been owned by investment firm Catterton Partners, which will retain a majority stake in the combined company. Farley’s and Sathers brands include Brach's, Now and Later, Trolli, Jujyfruits and Chuckles.
