Research firm Mintel conducted a study in 2011 that examined consumer awareness, avoidance of HFCS, food product label-reading habits, message recall about HFCS and purchase decisions. What they found among the 2,000 U.S. consumers surveyed was that 97% of consumers don’t check the label for HFCS. Other findings showed that fewer than 4% say they are avoiding or reducing their consumption of HFCS.
