The Coca-Cola Company announced May 5, 2014 it would be transitioning one of the ingredients found in a variety of its beverage formulas. According to the company, brominated vegetable oil (BVO) will be replaced with sucrose acetate isobutyrate (SAIB) and/or glycerol ester of rosin (singly or in-combination) across "a variety of formulas." Consumers can take note that glycerol ester of rosin is commonly found in chewing gum and beverages while SAIB has been used in beverages for more than 14 years.
