DSM’s tensVida Recognized for Innovative Development

Nov. 11, 2009
DSM’s lactotripeptide blood pressure ingredient, tensVida, received has received an award for Outstanding Application in Nutraceuticals at this year’s European Outsourcing Awards.
Maintaining cardiovascular health is currently the number one global health concern and through DSM’s extensive consumer research the need for an effective solution was identified. tensVida combines comprehensive scientific studies with in-depth consumer research to meet this need. tensVida contains specific, naturally-occurring dairy peptides called lactotripeptides which have been shown to help maintain normal blood pressure in multiple clinical studies. The active peptide responsible for the beneficial effects in blood pressure is the so-called lactotripeptide Isoleucine-Proline-Proline (IPP). Although lactotripeptides are present in normal dairy products, they are inactive within the original milk protein. DSM developed innovative enzymatic technology to release and activate the peptides.
Designed to provide activated lactotripeptides in a highly concentrated and convenient form, tensVida is effective at low doses. Moreover, with the benefit of a clean taste, tensVida is suitable for a broad range of applications, including dietary supplements, waters, juices, cereal bars and yogurts.
