Wild Flavors is promoting the broader use of Stevia after the Standing Committee of the European Commission recommended approval of high purity stevia for use as a food ingredient throughout the European Union.

According to the company, its Stevia solutions do not contain sugar alcohols, which can  have a cooling sensation, can be difficult to dissolve and have a high cost-in-use in many applications.

The final sanction for the use of stevia glycosides by the EU is anticipated for November or December 2011.
