The number of natural colorants available in any R&D toolbox is limited. But Black Malt Extract, which is all-natural pure malted barley flour, can be used like caramel color as a natural colorant in many finished foods like bakery, meats and petfoods. Because of its deep black color, it is used in very small percentages and imparts no flavor at that low usage level. Black Malt Extract is kosher-certified and non-GMO.
