Due to consumer demand, Red Arrow created low Trans Fatty Acid Grillin’ flavors made with non-hydrogenated oils. These new grill flavors are available in oil and dry forms and most are also non-GMO and Kosher certified.
Recent scientific evidence suggests that consumption of trans fatty acid raises low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels that increase the risk of coronary heart disease. In response to this, new FDA rules require labeling of the amount of trans fatty acids by January 1, 2006.
Although guidelines have not been established for what “low” trans fat means, Red Arrow Products LLC has developed their new line of Grillin’ flavors made with non-hydrogenated oils that range from 1-5% trans fat as compared to more than 25% trans fat in the industry’s traditional grill flavors used in the marketplace. According to the August 20, 2003 Guidance issued by FDA, if a serving of the final product contains less than 0.5 gram of TFA the content when declared, must be expressed as “0g.”
