Gasket material cuts sealing system cost, downtime
W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. has introduced a new, beefed-up edition of its Gore-Tex GR sheet gasketing. Featuring a newly patented microstructure, the Gore-Tex GR sheet gasketing material’s ability to withstand creep relaxation means better performance at elevated operating temperatures. Plus, its greater sheet integrity helps prevent fractures that can occur due to improper gasket loading in exceptional circumstances such as extreme flange deviation and misaligned flanges.Gore-Tex GR sheet gasketing can be used in most types of sealing applications. Made from 100% Gore-Tex expanded PTFE, the material is impervious to virtually all chemicals, is suitable for use from -450°F to +600°F (-268°C to +315°C), and withstands pressures to 3,000 psig. The material complies with FDA food requirements. According to Rob Haywood, Gore Product Manager, enhanced Gore-Tex GR sheet gasketing product offers several key advantages for plant operators, including lower sealing system costs, less downtime and improved personnel safety.
