While the benefits of consuming calcium are widely recognized with the nutrient ranking highest in importance by women according to a recent Gallup poll (March 2009), most Americans are not getting enough calcium from their diets, according to the NIH Osteoporosis and Related Bone Diseases - National Resource Center.
