Stouffer's Farmers' Harvest Entrees Serve up Whole Grains and Vegetables

March 31, 2011
Stouffer's Farmers' Harvest offers a choice for people looking to incorporate more wholesome ingredients into their diets without sacrificing great taste.

Nestlé Prepared Foods Co., Solon. Ohio, rolls out Stouffer's Farmers' Harvest entrées -- featuring three family-sized entrées and seven individual servings of classic but updated favorites with whole grains or vegetables.

Understanding that people want to eat wholesome meals without giving up taste, Stouffer's uses the same quality ingredients – sea salt, olive oil and real cheese – used in its other products. Whole grains are featured in eight recipes while four of the individual meals feature a half-cup of vegetables, and the sodium content for these 10 varieties ranges from 660-950 mg (28-40 percent daily value).

Single-serve varieties include: Meat & Sauce Lasagna (whole grain lasagna layered with an herb seasoned tomato and meat sauce with mozzarella, Parmesan and cottage cheeses); Vegetable Lasagna (whole grain lasagna layered carrots, spinach, broccoli and onions with a Parmesan and Romano cheese sauce); Macaroni & Cheese (whole grain pasta in a cheddar cheese sauce); Grilled Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo with a Vegetable Medley (grilled white meat chicken and fettuccini in Alfredo sauce with buttery seasoned broccoli, carrots and grilled red peppers); Chicken & Parmesan Pasta Bake with a Vegetable Medley (chicken and parmesan whole grain pasta with broccoli, carrots and red peppers in a butter sauce); Roasted Chicken & Bowtie Pasta with a Vegetable Medley (roasted chicken and bowtie pasta in a basil pesto sauce with carrots, green beans and grilled red peppers in a butter sauce); and Spaghetti & Meatballs with a Vegetable Medley (whole-grain spaghetti and meatballs with asparagus, yellow carrots and grilled red peppers in a butter sauce).

The multi-serve varieties include: Meat Sauce Lasagna, Vegetable Lasagna and Macaroni & Cheese.

"Farmers' Harvest is an excellent choice for people looking to incorporate more wholesome ingredients into their diets without sacrificing great taste," says Christine Dahm, vice president. "We've worked closely with our chefs on the goal of making the Farmers' Harvest recipes just the way you would if you made them yourself. We're featuring wholesome ingredients like sea salt, whole-grain pasta and olive oil, and we've even added vegetables to some of our favorites. The end result is a great-tasting meal that you can feel good about enjoying."

Suggested retail price for single serve varieties is $3.49, and multi-serve varieties are $7.39.
