Simmer Sauces Allow Consumers to Capture Exotic Moroccan Flavors at Home

Category: New Food Products

Product Type: Packaged/Prepared Foods

Manufacturer: Passage Foods USA

Morocco is a melting pot of European, African and Arab cultures, and these influences along with a rich spice trading history has led to the eclectic flavor combinations that define Moroccan cuisine today. Collinsville, Conn.-based Passage Foods USA, an affiliate of Flavour Makers Pty. Ltd., introduces Passage to Morocco Simmer Sauces, which capture the essence of this exotic cuisine and allows consumers to serve authentic Moroccan restaurant-quality meals at home.

Consumers prefer to cook ethnic meals at home "from scratch," adding ethnic sauces to their own meat, seafood and vegetables and serve with rice, couscous and other healthy grains, according to a recent Mintel survey. All-natural, gluten-free, and manufactured in the company's state-of-the-art ISO-certified production facilities in Melbourne, Australia, varieties include: Moroccan Spiced Lemon Tagine, Moroccan Spiced Honey Tagine and Moroccan Harissa Tomato & Bell Pepper Beef. Just add the sauce to meat, seafood or vegetables, simmer 15 to 20 minutes, and your guests will think you are a fabulous cook.

"While Indian and Thai have super-charged the growth in ethnic foods, cooking shows and the adventurous eating interests of young adults are driving stronger exposure to global cuisines, and Northern African cooking has become more widely experienced," says Passage Foods' spokesman Mark MacKenzie. "The ethnic foods market, already a $2.2 billion retail category, is expected to see continued growth of 14 percent over the next four years. As more consumers experience ethnic foods in restaurants and other away-from-home settings, they are looking to create those same dining experiences to share with family and friends at home. Moroccan food interest is in part driven by the strong growth in consumption of couscous over the last five years," he adds.

Suggested retail price is $3.99-$4.39.
