Earthbound Farm Introduces Lifestyle Salad Kits

May 31, 2011
Earthbound Farm, an organic produce farm, has introduced its Earthbound Farm Lifestyle Salad Kits, a line of naturally nutrient-dense and all-organic salad kits with at least one cup of vegetables, whole grains, plant-based protein and flavor.

On the heels of the USDA's recently released Dietary Guidelines for Americans, which advises Americans to eat more nutrient-dense foods and to increase whole grain intake daily, there is now a healthy, ultra-convenient and organic solution in the salad category.

San Juan Bautista, Calif.-based Earthbound Farm, an organic produce farm, introduces Earthbound Farm Lifestyle Salad Kit, a line of naturally nutrient-dense and all-organic salad kits chock-full of vegetables (one cup), whole grains, plant-based protein and flavor.

Varieties include Fresh Balance Lifestyle Salad Kit -- organic baby spinach and quinoa (a complete protein in the plant world), with sunflower kernels, dried blueberries, balsamic vinegar, olive oil and sea salt. It contains 9g protein, 6g fiber, 410 calories and is gluten-free. Whole Power Lifestyle Salad Kit has organic mixed baby greens, whole-grain bulgur wheat and wheat berries with garbanzo beans, dried cranberries and red wine vinaigrette. With 5g protein and 7g fiber, it contains 350 calories. Mighty Energy Lifestyle Salad Kit contains organic baby lettuces and black bean and corn salad with five-seed, stone-ground corn strips and green tomatillo vinaigrette. It contains 6g protein, 6g fiber and 290 calories and is gluten-free. All are between 6.5 and 7.25-oz.

Packaged in eco-friendly post-consumer recycled PET clamshells, the Lifestyle Salad Kits contain individually wrapped ingredients in easy-to-open pouches that minimize preparation time and maximize freshness while enabling consumers to add the amount of dressings and toppings they prefer.

"The salad kit category was ripe for innovation, and Earthbound Farm is excited to do that with these all-organic, on-trend, naturally nutrient-dense salads, just as American consumers are demonstrating greater interest in healthy eating," says Craig Hope, chief customer officer. "Earthbound Farm is working to build this category with innovative new products that offer attractive solutions for consumers."

Available at Whole Foods Markets nationally, the suggested retail price is $5.99.
