The specially selected sweet onions are lightly fried in vegetable oil and seasoned and come in Bacon, BBQ, Chipotle and Original flavors.

Entrepreneur Nick Loeb, fiance to actress Sofia Vergara, founded Onion Crunch LLC, New York, in 2011. Living in Scandinavia as a child, he enjoyed a crunchy friend onion bit served as a hotdog topping. He rediscovered the item during trips to Sweden as a young adult and was fascinated with its popularity in the region and perplexed by the lack of similar products in the U.S.

Loeb is changing that. He currently imports the product from Holland and packs it in the States. In the first full year of operation, the company secured distribution in more than 15,000 stores nationwide. Loeb's Onion Crunch can be found in top grocery store chains, convenience stores, stadiums, street vendors and has specialty products in Auntie Anne's, Jerry's Wood Fired Dog and Nathan's.

Loeb's Onion Crunch is made from fresh, specially selected sweet onions that are lightly fried in high-quality vegetable oil and seasoned. Kosher pareve and vegan, Onion Crunch currently comes in four flavors: Bacon, BBQ, Chipotle and Original. A 2-tablespoon serving contains 40 calories and 2.5-3g of fat, depending on variety. The retail product comes in 6-oz. shaker containers and has a suggested retail price of $3.49. The company is also in the process of commercializing three line extensions not expected till 2014: Ketchup Crunch, Mustard Crunch and Pickle Crunch, all based on the inherent vegetables.
