Duncan Hines Introduces Mini Cakes

Sept. 1, 2015
Duncan Hines Perfect Size offers consumers a baking option to make a cake sized to serve two to four people, allowing special desserts to be everyday desserts.

Here’s a flashback to the 1970s and 80s when Betty Crocker marketed a product known as Stir ‘n Frost. Recreating the concept, Duncan Hines, a brand of Pinnacle Foods Inc., is introducing the Duncan Hines Perfect Size platform, once again offering consumers a baking option to make a cake sized to serve two to four people, allowing special desserts to be everyday desserts.

“Current cake mixes on the market serve about a dozen people. As a result, people don’t bake cakes as much for everyday occasions, because much of the cake ends up being thrown out,” says Mark Schiller, executive vice president. The new kit includes cake mix, frosting and disposable pan. The home baker provides an egg, butter and water.

The line includes five varieties: Chocolate Lover’s (chocolate cake with chocolate frosting), Golden Fudge (golden cake with chocolate frosting), Lemon Bliss (lemon cake with lemon frosting), Red Velvet Dream (red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting) and Strawberries and Creme (strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting). The suggested retail price is $2.99.
