The school-favorite peanut butter and jelly sandwich takes a better-for-you-turn with new Smucker’s Fruit & Honey Fruit Spreads. Ripened fruit is naturally sweetened with honey for a refreshingly simple way for people to make their favorite sandwich, complement breakfast bread or even dress up appetizers and desserts.

Available in four flavors, the new spread contains no preservatives — just fruit, honey, pectin, citric acid and, with some varieties, either vegetable juice (for color) or natural flavor -- offering the perfect touch of sweetness, according to the company. The four different blends combine honey with blueberry, strawberry, triple berry (blackberries, blueberries and strawberries) or tropical fruit (mango, passionfruit and peaches).

The company offers numerous serving suggestions including a strawberry balsamic dressing, swirled blueberry lemon frozen yogurt, smoky mango black bean salsa and a triple berry chile cheese spread. The new fruit spreads come in 9-oz. artisan glass jars and have a suggested retail price of $3.49. A 1-tablespoon serving contains 35 calories, 8g of sugar and no fat or protein.
