Manufacturer of sour cream, cottage cheese and dairy-based dips expects 750,000-sq.-ft. plant to employ as many as 255 when it is fully operational.

Dairy processor Daisy Brand will invest $626.5 million to build a new processing facility in Boone, Iowa, after receiving city approval and a state incentives package late last week.

The 750,000-sq.-ft. plant will be the Dallas, Texas-based company’s fourth, and it is expected to create as many as 255 jobs for the region once fully operational.

The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) approved $7 million in direct financial assistance, as well as tax benefits for Daisy Brand. The company, which is more than 100 years old, settled on Boone after an extensive search throughout the upper Midwest, the Ames (Iowa) Chamber of Commerce news release noted.

Daisy Brand’s three other processing facilities are in Garland, Texas; Casa Grande, Ariz.; and Wooster, Ohio.
