Mondelēz International will trim a quarter of its SKUs to streamline manufacturing in the wake of the pandemic, its CEO said in an interview July 10.
“That’s always a discussion in a company like ours, that we have too many flavors, too many sizes and so on,” CEO Dirk Van De Put told Bloomberg Television. “This is the moment to drive that.”
Like many processors of center-store items, Mondelēz has seen demand for its products surge during the pandemic, as consumers sought to stock their pantries. Van De Put said that Mondelēz’s comfort foods like cookies are in high demand, while sales of on-the-go products like gum are depressed.
