Harmening and Freeman Call for Creation of U.S. Office of Supply Chain

April 9, 2020
The Heads of General Mills and Consumer Brands Association penned a joint letter explaining why the United States needs a government supply chain office.

Jeff Harmening, chairman and CEO of General Mills, and Geoff Freeman, president and CEO of the Consumer Brands Association, penned a letter on April 2 calling for the creation of federal Supply Chain Office.

The letter comes at a time when the Consumer Packaged Goods industry and the 20 million people who support or work within it are working overtime to keep a sick nation fed. The two call for state and local governments to embrace the Department of Homeland Security’s standards for critical infrastructure. The call also states the importance of keeping freight systems and the global supply chain operational and efficient.
