Whether you call it coronavirus or COVID-19, the little virus became a huge deal this week. We've been busy announcing show postponements like Snack Expo and Supply Side East. The influx of information became so big we've updated our events page to include the latest information on cancellations, protocols, and legal consultation. Be sure you head over and check it out.
Amid the viral virus news, other appointments and acquisitions were in play: JM Smucker hired its first COO while Mondelēz hired a CIO. The FPSA elected its 2020 officers as well. To everyone with a new job, new appointment, new role, we wish you a hearty congratulations. If you'd like to be featured in an upcoming round-up, send us an email.
The FDA has had a bit of a week this week, with between revealing its new safety plan for greens, launching a GMO Education program, then needing to readjust its schedules for foreign inspections.
Also having a busy week this week are entrepreneur and incubator programs. Chobani picked its 2020 Incubator class, Stacy's Pita Chips launched a campaign to help female entrepreneur and FritoLay announced the winners of its WomanMade Funding challenge. Congratulations to all of those recipients.
FritoLay and Stacy's Pita Chips' parent company PepsiCo are also now the proud owners of Rockstar Beverages. The new bundle of energy clocked in at $3.85 billion earlier this week.
