Salty snack maker Utz Quality Foods has bought a regional snack company based in Illinois.

Salty snack maker Utz Quality Foods has bought a regional snack company that specializes in popcorn and kettle-cooked chips.

Kitchen Cooked Inc., based in Farmington, Ill., was acquired Jan. 2 by Utz, a Pennsylvania-based company with 13 plants in seven states. Terms were not disclosed. The deal includes the Kitchen Cooked brand, direct-store delivery operations and processing plants. Its products include popcorn, potato chips, Kettle Pops, pretzels and Kettle Kurls.

This marks the latest acquisition for Utz, which bought Conagra’s DSD salty snacks, including Snyder's of Berlin, last year and Inventure Foods in 2017.

“We are excited to partner with Utz and believe that this is a great way for the two organizations to come together to create an even stronger manufacturing and distribution network throughout Illinois and Eastern Iowa,” Kitchen Cooked vice president Paul Blackhurst said in a statement.
