Mark Alexander, president of Americas Simple Meals and Beverages at Campbell Soup Co., Camden, N.J., will leave the company, effective April 2 to pursue other opportunities, the company announced March 19.
The Simple Meals and Beverage business division includes retail and foodservice businesses in the U.S. and Canada, and products like Campbell’s, Swanson, Prego, Pace, Plum, V8 and Pacific Foods, which Campbell acquired in 2017.
“Mark has been an influential leader, and we are grateful for his many contributions during his nearly three decades with Campbell,” said Denise Morrison, president and CEO of Campbell Soup. “During his career, he has had a meaningful impact on our business and culture. We wish him the best in his future endeavors and thank him for his leadership.”
Alexander, who has been with Campbell almost 29 years, has led both developed and emerging markets businesses for Campbell, including operations in Asia Pacific, Australia, Europe and North America. He began his career with Campbell in Toronto as an assistant brand manager. In 2009, he became chief customer officer and president of North America Baking and Snacking, and was promoted a year later to president of Campbell International. In 2012, he was named president of Campbell North America and moved up to his current position in 2015.
Alexander's departure follows a difficult quarter for Campbell. The company’s fiscal 2018 second-quarter earnings were below expectations, Morrison said, and the business has faced challenges in its Americas Simple Meals and Campbell’s Fresh businesses.
