SW Minnesota Pork Plant Files for Bankruptcy Ahead of Planned Closure
HyLife Foods’ Windom, Minn., pork plant — which is slated to close by the end of May — filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, according to local reports.
HyLife Foods Windom filed for the bankruptcy along with two other subsidiaries, Canwin Farms and Tritek International, which share at least 20% ownership with HyLife’s Manitoba, Canada-based parent company, the news report stated.
The company previously cited worsening conditions in the pork industry as the reasoning for the closure of the plant, which the company had acquired in 2020. In April, HyLife announced it would close the plant by the end of May unless a last-minute buyer emerged.
