Monogram Foods to Close Dickson, Tennessee, Frozen Sandwich Plant

July 25, 2024
Just two-and-a-half years after swooping in to save the plant from closure, Monogram Foods announces the Dickson plant will be closed by the end of October.

According to a letter sent to the Tennessee Dept. of Labor and Workforce Development, Memphis, Tenn.-based Monogram Foods will close its Dickson, Tenn., processing plant this fall. The closure will impact 237 workers, said the WARN notice filed this week. Shutdown will begin in September and be complete on or around Oct. 31, 2024, the notice stated.

A Monogram Foods spokesperson sent the following statement to Food Processing:

“We have made the difficult decision to suspend operations at our Dickson, Tennessee, facility as customer demand has softened for the products manufactured at the plant. We purchased the Dickson plant with intentions to make it a profitable and successful site, and while we have explored a range of options to continue operations, we have not identified a path to do so that is viable for our business.”

The spokesperson said there would be no disruptions to customer services because of this decision to close the facility, and added that the company was committed to providing support and resources to all affected employees, including job placement services, severance, benefits assistance and more. All employees at Dickson would be considered for open roles at Monogram’s other facilities, the company noted.

Monogram’s spokesperson also thanked the Dickson community for its welcome and embracing of the company and its employees.

Monogram Foods acquired the 103,000-sq.-ft. Dickson facility in December 2021, at which point the plant was slated to be shut down by its previous owner. With Monogram swooping in and taking over, the plant never closed, saving those employees’ jobs, according to a release from the Tennessee governor’s office. According to the company’s web site, the Dickson facility features three handheld sandwich processing lines, focused on frozen breakfast sandwich, refrigerated sandwich and portable snack assembly.
