Houston, Texas-based Mama Lycha Foods has received an investment from Rotunda Capital Partners, according to a release announcing the investment. Mama Lycha manufactures foods that highlight authentic Latin American cuisine distributed through more than 750 retail grocery stores and more than 150 regional partner distributors across 37 states and three Canadian provinces.
The investment was made in partnership with the founding Padilla family, and Dan Lipson, managing partner at Rotunda, said the firm looks forward to partnering to accelerate strategic growth investments for Mama Lycha. The Padilla family, including the current general director, Maria Padilla-Gonzalez, will continue to work in the business and help lead the next generation of management, the release said.
Luis Marconi, executive partner of Rotunda, will become executive chairman of the board of Mama Lycha. Marconi was most recently head of Grocery Products for Hormel Foods and president of the Megamex Foods joint venture between Hormel and Herdez Del Fuerte.
Mama Lycha was founded in 1993 and has additional facilities in Grand Prairie, Texas, and Central America.
