Kroger Co. will add a line for processing aseptic dairy products at its milk processing plant in Newark, Ohio.
The 35,000-sq.-ft. addition to Tamarack Farms Dairy will process coffee creamers, half-and-half, heavy whipping cream and Kroger’s Carbmeister milk beverage. The addition will support more than 150 new jobs; its cost was not announced.
Tamarack Farms Dairy, the largest fluid dairy product producer in Ohio, serves approximately 160 stores in Ohio and West Virginia and provides products for Kroger's e-commerce channel. Kroger, which has the most developed food processing network of any major food retailer, owns and operates dairy-producing facilities across the U.S.
"Kroger is Fresh for Everyone, and that means we are committed to sourcing and manufacturing only the best and freshest products,” Doug Blacksten, Kroger’s senior director of supply chain and manufacturing, said in a statement. “This cutting-edge innovation at Tamarack Farms Dairy underscores that commitment, improving our ability to offer high-quality dairy products to Kroger customers."
