Mondelēz International will spend $112.5 million to upgrade its production and distribution facilities in Henrico County, Va.
The plans include a 68,000-square-foot expansion of the company’s Richmond bakery, which will add a high-speed Oreo production line. It will also be opening a new sales fulfillment center close to the Richmond bakery.
Mondelēz received a grant of $1.8 million from the state of Virginia for the project, and is also eligible for tax breaks and other benefits.
“We are excited about these further investments in our U.S. biscuit network and the opportunity to reaffirm and enhance the role of our Richmond manufacturing site, as well as our broader supply chain and business footprint here in Henrico County and in the Commonwealth of Virginia,” Troy Ellis, Mondelēz’s senior vice president of North America supply chain, said in a statement.
