Nearly a year after the company announced it would be building its first North American chocolate processing plant, Ferrero has finally broken ground on its new facility in Bloomington, Ill. According to the company, the $75 million project has the potential to bring 50 new jobs to the area and grow Ferrero's economic impact on the Illinois economy.

The new facility will add 70,000 square feet to Ferrero's existing Bloomington manufacturing center and will produce chocolate for Ferrero products such as 100Grand, Raisinets, Crunch and others. In recent years, Ferrero has invested in its North American footprint, including the expansion of its North American headquarters in New Jersey as well as adding distribution centers in Pennsylvania, Arizona and Georgia,

Ghafari Associates provided architectural and engineering design services for the bid documents associated with the project. The Austin Company is Ferrero's design-build partner responsible for the engineering and construction of the project.
