JBS subsidiary's new Moberly, Mo., facility will employ nearly 200.

Swift Prepared Foods, a subsidiary of JBS USA, opened a $68 million facility in Moberly, Mo., that will produce ready-to-eat, fully cooked bacon. It’s expected to create nearly 200 new jobs.

Despite the historic name, Swift Prepared Foods essentially is the former Plumrose USA, acquired in 2017 by Brazilian meat packer JBS. Going back even further, JBS entered the U.S. with the 2007 acquisition of Swift & Co., then the country's third largest processor of beef and pork.

This is the company's sixth location in the U.S. JBS/Swift received a number of economic development incentives for the project. Swift in April announced plans to build a $200 million facility to produce Italian-style cured meats in Columbia, Mo.
