A subsidiary of Hormel Foods, Burke produces fully cooked meat toppings and ingredients for the foodservice category. In addition to enlarging Burke's—and by association, Hormel's—footprint, the firm is creating new jobs in the central Iowa town as well.

“This is an exciting time for us, and we are thrilled to be adding this state-of-the-art expansion to our 420 inspired team members and the new jobs to the community,” said Chad Randick, president of Burke Corp in a release. “The new addition has industry-leading sustainability features and helps us continue our efforts to operate a world-class food quality and safety facility.”

According to the announcement, additions to the facility include a heat recovery system, high-pressure belt system and ammonia compressors and provide efficient processes to reuse heat and water usage throughout the facility.
