Maple Leaf Foods Completes Construction on London, ON Poultry Plant

The plant, with its footprint of 660,000 square feet, is running ahead of schedule, with production start-up planned for Q4 2022.

Canadian-based protein processor Maple Leaf Foods announced this week it had completed construction on its 660,000 square feet state-of-the art poultry plant in London, ON ahead of schedule. According to the company, production in the new facility is expected to start in Q4 2022.

The company plans intends to hire 600 people by the end of 2022, with a total of 1,600 to be brought on board once the company is running at full capacity.

“As we get closer to commercial production, we know we are well on our way toward realizing the benefits and returns on this $772 million strategic investment," said CEO said Michael H. McCain. "We expect the plant to generate approximately $100 million annually of incremental Adjusted EBITDA on a run-rate basis once production is fully ramped up around the end of 2023."
