Villa Dolce Artisan Desserts Builds New Gelato Plant in Glendale, Arizona
Villa Dolce Artisan Desserts, a Glendale, Ariz.-based producer of artisanal gelato and sorbetto, announced the grand opening of its new manufacturing facility in its hometown of Glendale. The new, 76,000-square-foot facility sits on eight acres and features 18,000 square feet of cold storage, with room for future expansion.
The new plant was a green-field project that was constructed over an 18-month period, and it features four gelato lines capable of pumping out more than 1 million 3-gallon tubs, 15.6 million pints and 26 million ice cream sandwiches annually. The cold storage area can hold half a million gallons of gelato and helps the company ensure quality for its co-packing customers.
The grand opening celebration on October 14 included a ribbon cutting ceremony and speeches from various local political figures.
Villa Dolce Artisan Desserts was founded in 2001 and makes more than 30 flavors of authentic Italian gelato and sorbetto, using traditional Italian recipes from Rome, Italy. Key customers include major airlines and restaurant groups, as well as nationwide distribution through Dot foods, Sysco, US Foods and more, the release said. The company is expanding its product range to offer artisan desserts as well, with new innovations expected to be announced in late 2024.
