Ruiz Foods Expands, Adding Two New Future Processing Facilities in Vernon, Calif.

Maker of El Monterey and Tornados frozen Mexican brands expects first processing line to become operational in the first half of its fiscal year 2025.

Frisco, Texas-based Ruiz Foods, which manufactures frozen Mexican foods, has acquired two new facilities in Vernon, Calif., which will significantly increase its total manufacturing space by approximately 150,000 square feet, local news reported, citing a release distributed by the company.

Ruiz Foods, which specializes in frozen Mexican cuisine such as its El Monterey and Tornados brands, purchased a facility in Vernon in October 2022, which is located near the new properties, the news report said. The company expects the first production line at the new facilities to become operational during the first half of the company’s 2025 fiscal year.

Ruiz Foods Products, Inc. is a privately-owned corporation co-founded by Fred Ruiz and his father, Louis, in 1964. Kim Ruiz Beck, the elder daughter of co-founder and chairman Emeritus Fred Ruiz, serves as chairman. It owns five U.S. processing facilities in California, Texas and South Carolina.
