Italian Pasta Maker Andriani Plans First North American Plant for Ontario

Small London, Ontario plant will make gluten-free and GMO-free pastas.
Feb. 7, 2024

Italian pasta maker Andriani SpA will establish its first North American facility in London, Ontario, Canada, a 61,225-sq.-ft. plant to make gluten-free and GMO-free pastas. It’s estimated to cost C$33.6 million (about US$25 million) and will create 42 jobs.

Various media reported the news in January, although the first announcement of the Italian company’s plans to build in North America, and specifically in Canada, actually came a year earlier. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new production plant will take place later this year, according to news service BNN.

The investment is supported by a C$1.5 million grant from the provincial government, and the plant will occupy a five-acre parcel in the city-owned industrial park.

Once the new facility is operational, Andriani plans to manufacture products for the North American market in Ontario instead of importing products from Italy, reported CTVNewsLondon. Andriani brands include Agluten, ApuliaKundi, Biori and Felicia.
