Easy Food To Build Tortilla and Chip Plant in Sherman, Texas
The Sherman Economic Development Corp. (SEDC) on Aug. 13 approved a $2.1 million investment for a $50 million tortilla and tortilla chip manufacturing plant in that north Texas town.
Florida-based Easy Foods will build a nearly 200,000-sq.-ft. facility on 30 acres in Sherman that will create 200 jobs, according to TV station KXII. The plant will be built next to one for Molinos, a $25 million corn mill approved by SEDCO the previous month, which will be the key supplier for the Easy Foods plant.
SEDCO will spend $1 million for roads and railroads to serve the neighboring plants. “Just the [capital expenditures] alone between these two companies is $85 million,” said SEDCO President Kent Sharp. “It could come in close to $100 million when all phases are done.”
