Bigelow Tea Breaks Ground on Second Louisville, Ky., Plant

Sept. 12, 2024
The $70 million, 265,000-sq.-ft. building will perform production, packaging, storage and distribution.

Bigelow Tea on Sept. 9 broke ground on a 265,000-sq.-ft. building in Louisville, Ky., that will serve as a key facility for the company’s production, packaging, storage and distribution operations. The total investment for this project is estimated at $70 million.

The site includes 25,000 sq. ft. of planned office space, and it sits on a 20-acre plot, allowing for a future expansion of 75,000 sq. ft. as the company continues to grow.

Sitework is scheduled to begin this year, with the main construction phase slated to start in early 2025. The facility will include environmentally friendly features such as solar canopies over employee parking lots. The company also said it will mean an expansion of its workforce, although they didn’t specify how many jobs will be created.

The Fairfield, Conn.-based company already has had a facility in Louisville for more than 30 years.
