Anheuser-Busch Investing $14 Million to Upgrade Houston, Texas, Brewery
The capital-spending spree at Anheuser-Busch is continuing, as the company reportedly will invest $14 million to upgrade its Houston, Texas, brewery — a little more than a year after it installed a new, $22.5 million cooling system at the facility.
According to a company release, the $14 million investment will go toward facility and processing equipment updates; installation of new air rinsers on can lines to reduce water use; and replacement of elevators, doors and the warehouse roof. Ryan Hudgins, senior general manager of the Anheuser-Busch Houston brewery, said the facility has been a proud member of the community for nearly 60 years and the investment “is a testament to Anheuser-Busch’s commitment” to Houston.
The Houston brewery is the only one the company owns in Texas, though it has three other various facilities there, the report noted, going on to say that it produced a company-record 10.9 million barrels of beer in 2022.
This is now the fifth major capital project the company has undertaken at its various U.S. breweries over the past 12 months. Anheuser-Busch’s prior projects include: $8 million dedicated to its St. Louis brewery just last month; $16 million invested in its Los Angeles facility, announced earlier in October 2024; $6.5 million spent in Williamsburg, Va., announced in August 2024; and $13 million for Cartersville, Ga., announced in late November 2023. The company finished the previous Houston cooling system project in August of 2023, and it says it has spent more than $2 billion in the past five years to improve its facilities across the country.
