Amy’s Kitchen Pauses Construction of Goshen, New York, Processing Plant

Nov. 25, 2024
Work on the very slow-moving capital project will stop for the time being, five years after groundbreaking, and with the future of the facility up in the air for now.

Organic foods processor Amy’s Kitchen reportedly has paused construction of its processing and packaging facility in Goshen, N.Y., a project that broke ground about five years ago and has been in the works since 2013, according to one local news report.

“A number of factors” from Covid-19 to inflation, as well as the changes in demand for frozen meals and canned soups, were cited by the company to the news outlet as the reasoning behind the halt of work at the site.

“We currently do not have need for additional manufacturing capacity,” the company spokesperson told the news outlet. “We have made the tough decision to pause our project, and we are still considering our options and timelines. No decision has been made about the project’s future direction.”

As mentioned, the company broke ground in 2019, but this project has been in the works for more than a decade, as more than $33 million has been spent at the site on infrastructure since 2013, an official told the news outlet.
