JBS USA to Invest $200 Million in Cactus, Texas, and Greeley, Colo., Beef Plants
JBS USA has announced it will invest $200 million at its Cactus, Texas, and Greeley, Colo., beef production facilities, including building a new, state-of-the-art fabrication floor and ground beef room in Cactus and a new distribution center in Greeley.
JBS said in its announcement that construction on these projects will begin in 2025, and once completed, they will improve facility efficiencies and the capability for increased production capacity in the future. Wesley Batista Filho, CEO of JBS USA, said of the investments: “We believe now is the time to invest in the United States, and we are excited about what the future holds. Today’s announcement demonstrates our commitment to the U.S. beef industry and the American farmer and rancher.”
The Cactus facility employs more than 3,700 people and pays out $2.9 billion per year to the ranchers in the region for the cattle it processes. Greeley puts more than 3,800 employees to work and purchases livestock to the tune of $3.1 billion annually. JBS has also invested more than $15 million in the two communities since 2020 through its Hometown Strong and Better Futures programs to fund an aquatic center, baseball fields, park renovations, a food bank truck, STEM labs in local schools, various nonprofit organizations, and affordable housing developments, among other initiatives.
