Dr. Schar USA today announced today a $28 million expansion of its production and office space in Swedesboro, N.J. The project includes enhancements to the bakery facility, aimed at improving product consistency, efficiency and quality.
“This expansion is about more than just physical space—it’s about investing in our people and the future of our products,” said Jim Morris, general manager of Schar North America. A brand-new on-site canteen, staffed with a professional chef, is included to provide fresh, nutritious meals and a comfortable space for team members to recharge. In addition, the company has developed a community employee garden and outdoor eating area.
Dr. Schar, with headquarters in the German-speaking South Tyrol area of northernmost Italy, also consolidated its U.S. operations by relocating the Lyndhurst office team to the expanded Swedesboro location. The company, which specializes in foods for dietary needs, especially gluten intolerance, first opened its Swedesboro facility in 2012.
